Happy Thanksgiving 2011 - original art by Andy McNally

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I created this little Turkey for a t-shirt design for a friend of my sister. They ended up not using the design, but I liked him and thought I would share him with everyone.  The original sketch is below to show the evolution of the design.

The little Turkey is a vegetarian and very thankful not to be on a dinner plate this year. As for me, I’m thankful for all my family, friends, and loved ones. I’m also thankful for another year of creating and sharing my artwork. Have a wonderful and safe holiday everyone.

Steve Jobs (1955 – 2011)

Steve Jobs (1955 – 2011)

Every once and a while a person comes along who moves us collectively forward. Like him or not, Steve Jobs changed the computer world and much of the world around him and not just in the tech world. He was not afraid to try new things, or to fail. He was passionate about the things he believed in. We can all learn from his commitment, passion, and creativity.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.

While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Learning to Fly

Learning to Fly - original art by Andy McNally all rights reserved

An elephant named Amelia desperately wanted to fly. She looked into Pilot’s lessons but it was way to expensive and the plane’s cockpits were always to small. The birds she asked for advice rarely had any useful ideas, telling her to spread her wings and all of these vague ideas of feathers.  Amelia would try not to think about flying for a while, and talk about other topics like the weather and peanut brittle. Friends and well meaning strangers would often tell her that she was silly and that she should give up such foolish nonsense. Thankfully a little boy came along. He noticed that Amelia was sad and gave her his balloon to cheer her up. It was then that she knew what to do. Amelia saved her money and bought more balloons, and she was determined. Slowly over time, she collected enough balloons.  Amelia gently kicked off the ground and lifted gracefully into the sky. Her smile was as radiant as the sun as she soared in the air proudly fulfilling her dreams.
