First digital sketch/drawing for 2012. Trying out a new digital technique for the new year, via Autodesk Sketchbook, Kindle Fire, and a stylus. Trying to get a portable digital input system that works for me.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I created this little Turkey for a t-shirt design for a friend of my sister. They ended up not using the design, but I liked him and thought I would share him with everyone.  The original sketch is below to show the evolution of the design.

The little Turkey is a vegetarian and very thankful not to be on a dinner plate this year. As for me, I’m thankful for all my family, friends, and loved ones. I’m also thankful for another year of creating and sharing my artwork. Have a wonderful and safe holiday everyone.

The kind students and staff of Riverdale Middle School invited me back to their annual Career Day. I had a wonderful time drawing pictures and answering questions for the students. Take a look at the video and see all of the bright young minds and faces. My daughter Callie shot and directed the video, which was no easy task with all of the eager students crowding around.

Did you draw Frankenstein with me?  Bill did. He used computer software like I did, but you can draw it on paper and color it in with crayons.  Here is Bill’s drawing, and my original concept artwork, which is on a spare piece of paper, for the “Let’s Draw Frankenstein” video tutorial.

A behind the scenes peek. I happen to take a screen shot when I was working on the Henry Loves Chocolate illustration. You can see the vector work developing over the original sketch. I like looking at how people create things so, I thought I would share. I may start doing this more. What do you think?
