listening to music – journal drawing

listening, art journal, original art by andy mcnally
I’m always influenced by music, most recently that has been one of my favorite artists, Andrew Bird. I listen to music to improve my mood, console me, inspire me, or just for the enjoyment of the music. In regards to art, I often hear a word or phrase that may spark something in my imagination. The funny thing is that the end drawing may not reflect the original word or phrase. It is often just the starting point. I think that it is a little like going on adventure to Neverland in Peter Pan. The important thing is to start the adventure, you never know what wondrous things you may find. Start the pen or pencil moving, create your own music, play, dance, but most importantly find what makes you happy. If you need some help, listen to some music, or start off to Neverland on your own, “second star to the right and straight on till morning.”
